FORMALITIES

1/ VISAS 

Unless you are an Australian citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. New Zealand passport holders can apply for a visa upon arrival in the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home. You can apply for a range of Australian visa types, including tourist visas and working holiday visas, via the ETA app or via https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder

Please allow 10-30 days for your visa (depending on type of visa)

2/ SHOTGUN IMPORT PERMISSION

Each shooter is allowed to bring with them two shotguns and NO AMMUNITION

Note that the import of Semi Automatic & Pump Action Shotguns are also NOT permitted. All shotguns must either be the Over Under or Side by Side type and not hold more than 2 cartridges.

Please on this link to download the form for your permit to bring your firearm into Australia. This form MUST be filled out in full and sent back to us as at worldut2026@gmail.com by December 1^st, 2025

Along with the form please also send a clear copy of
- Passport
- Shooting Permit of your country (if applicable or letter from local police)
- Certificate of ownership of shotgun
- Another form of photo identification such as drivers licence

Once you send this documents, the organizer will fill in all other paperwork and forms on your behalf which will then be emailed back to you for you to sign. Once you receive these papers back from the organizer, please sign and return back them the documents as soon as possible.

The organizer will then submit all paperwork on your behalf for all permits and licenses required to bring the shotgun into and out of Australia.

All International competitors must bring their shotgun to store at the armoury at the range at Melbourne Gun Club on arrival into Australia. It will be the shooters responsibility to bring the firearm to the range to store in the armoury.

PLEASE NOTE: All copies of passport, firearms licenses, drivers licence, and shooting club membership cards must be sighted and signed by an appropriate witness authorised to certify documents in your country.  This could be a police officer, accountant, solicitor, doctor.  The appropriate witness must view the original and sign the copy stating "true copy of the original".

Information important

When booking for flights to Australia the best option is to have Melbourne as the first port of landing in Australia where possible.

If you are to land at another airport first such as Perth, Sydney, Brisbane etc please allow at least 4 hours transit for your connecting flight to Melbourne. This is because you will have to clear the weapon at the first port of entry into Australia that you arrive in and you will then have to go and check in again for your domestic flight to Melbourne. It will not be possible to check the weapon all the way thru to Melbourne if you first land at another city in Australia.

The same will be for when departing! You will need to clear the clear the weapon from the last city of Australia you depart at so if you have a flight from Melbourne to Sydney please allow 4hrs in Sydney to collect your weapon and bags and then head to the international departure to clear the weapon there with Border Force and check in.

It is best where possible to have Melbourne as your first port of entry into Australia where possible or please allow the extra transit time to clear your weapon
